Reward systems for researchers are dependent on the context of their employment. Traditional academic reward systems include considerable emphasis on disciplinary prestige and recognition in addition to collectively negotiated basic conditions. Industry rewards are normally more strongly based on financial and other material forms of reward. Recognition is firm and industry based.
